This Halloween: Health Canada warns against multiwicked Halloween candles

(NC)-In the past Health Canada has issued a warning to Canadians not to use the following multiwicked Halloween candles and other similar products:

. Bleeding Hand Candle (with individual wicks in each of the five fingers)

. Flesh & Bones (with individual wicks in each of the five fingers)

. Foot-shaped candle (with individual wicks on the 2nd and 4th toes)

. Coffin-shaped candle (with two wicks at the top of the coffin) Health Canada warns that these products can burn and produce a single high flame or several large flames close together. The heat produced is intense and nearby materials such as curtains, clothing, windowsills and other combustible materials could be ignited. These multiwicked candles can also melt rapidly, creating large pools of hot wax.

If you have these types of Halloween candles at home, Health Canada advises against using them, and recommends disposing of them immediately, or returning them to the place of purchase.

Health Canada has also requested that retailers remove these candles from sale. Importers/distributors are asked to recall the candles and stop selling them.
